Thirty years in business
As part of a well-established diversification strategy, the new division dedicated to the distribution of semi-finished chemical products at European level becomes operational. In 2018 Gicar celebrates its first 30 years of life facing important and complex challenges to ensure its constant growth while respecting the company's history and consolidated values.
We continue our commitment to confirm and consolidate the positions acquired and, at the same time, the expansion process through the development of different markets, new products, services and geographical areas. The combination and the correct management of the above-mentioned events have allowed Gicar to become a major European operator in the relevant markets and a reference for the major oil companies and chemical multinationals in Europe.
Between 2008 and 2010 the Cerano site was expanded, in support of the company’s growth strategy, and has now reached a total area of 180,000 square meters.
In 2010 the T.S.P. (Transit Safety Port) was started, a logistics site intended for the technical stop of chemicals iso-tanks. This innovative new service has been implemented in a desire to support growth through the expansion and diversification of its range of action.
In 1998, the Cerano (NO) production site was purchased, where are now located 15,000 square meters of industrial real estate, a quality control and research laboratory equipped with the most sophisticated and advanced tools in the sector and an office building of 1,500 square meters.
The following year Gicar obtained the ISO 9000 quality management certification (now ISO 9001:2015). In 2016, Gicar obtained also the ISO 14001:2015 environmental management system certification.
New trade policies
Playing in advance and already in possession of a well-established know-how, as well as a state-of-the-art production facility, Gicar begins to successfully present itself to oil companies as a reference supplier for engine coolants, brake fluids and detergents with their brand ensuring excellent quality levels both from a product and service point of view.
The above process was accompanied by the abandonment of the direct sales network, which was no longer necessary given the new type of customers and partly even potentially in conflict with the new objectives. In the same year, in support and partly as a result of the significant growth, Gicar changed its legal form into a private limited company.
With a view to expansion, the production and distribution of industrial and car cleaning products is merged within Gicar's business, thus allowing an expansion of the product portfolio together with a wider and more comprehensive offer to Customers.
The birth of Gicar
From over 20 years of experience of Giuseppe Trombini in the world of engine coolants and brake fluids, Gicar is established in 1988.
